Joe Fotia, retired OPP Gaming Specialist. Joe Fotia is the OPP officer who spent a couple of years playing poker with me while investigating my three Casino Turmels in 1991 at my home, in 1992 at Baxter Rd. and in 1993 at St. Laurent Blvd. I agree with him that "the rules that are currently in place are made for the general public and are fair." Unfortunately, my suggestions had nothing to do with the rules being unfair. All my suggestions had either to do with the rules being a needless waste of my time or with making it a more pleasant game. For example, most casinos choose seats by using cards out of the butt of the deck at the end of a hand. I can't believe that the OPP expert would say that the mere assignment of a seat needs a complete re-shuffle of the full deck. Your casino could be providing me with 60 hands per hour and only provides me with 40. Of course, both models, slow or fast, are still fair whether my time is wasted or not. I was not asking you to make your product fairer, I was asking you to make your product better. Similarly, the jangling of slot machines in the hallway a mere 15 feet away from the poker tables results in one of the noisiest poker environments in North America. Ask your staff to tape record an hour's worth to hear for yourself. Though being all subjected to the same hostile environment is fair but they do shut out the noise with windowed panels at the Taj Mahal and Tropicana in Atlantic City and Casinorama in Orillia to name a few poker rooms. At Brantford, it only takes a door at the entrance of the hallway to provide a quieter style of game. Please understand that I play many hours and when I'm paying you over $10 an hour to play, wastage of time will compel me to seek a judicial review of any rules that are not corrected which continue to be a complete waste of the time I am paying for. I'd appreciate a point-by-point explanation of why my "how to not waste time" suggestions should not be implemented. Now that I've explained how you can provide me with 60 hands an hour for my money, providing only 40 isn't satisfactory and I think a judge will agree I have legal interest in getting the most hands for my money. Yours resolutely, John Turmel Cc: Joseph Cordiano, Economic Development and Trade Ministry Tel: 416-325-6900 Fax: 416-325-6918 www.ontariocanada.com
